Canโt get enough of one of Tyler Perryโs most popular families the Browns? If so, youโre not alone as Perry brings his hit series โMeet the Brownsโ back to TBS. Catch a sneak peek of the show before it premieres tonight at 10 P.M. EST.
Mr. Brown (David Mann) continues to bond with his daughter, Cora, (played by Mannโs wife, Tamala Mann). She was a love child from a brief fling Brown had with Madea, though Mann sometimes has to remember she is his daughter on set and not his wife.
โI have to keep him from kissing me as Mr. Brown. Itโs one of the hardest things. I told him once I get into character Iโm serious,โ Tamela says with a laugh. โBut he still wants to kiss me like Iโm still his wife. Iโm like, โNo, youโre my dad.โโ
โI was very nervous because Iโm Mr. Brown, head of the Browns, but Tyler told me to just do my thing. I was more comfortable taping the television show because I like the energy of a live audience.โ David Mann tells ESSENCE.com, as the show began taping following the big screen version of โMeet the Browns.โ
Mr. Brown breaks out his tool belt when a mommy-to-be goes into labor. We hope an ambulance is nearby.
Brownโs nephew Will (Lamman Rucker) and his wife Sasha (Denise Boutteโ) enjoy an intimate moment while the coast is clear. Sasha, a nurse, is ready to begin a family of her own with her doctor husband.
โUncle Brown is like a dad to me,โ Rucker says of his character. โIโm a gynecologist and my family is country, but I love them dearly.โ
Mr. Brown joins in as members of a local fraternity break it down.
โI know that there is a fine line between a good comedian and a buffoon so Iโm mindful of it, but I donโt like it to dictate how I do things,โ Mann says. โMr. Brown is not politically correct and neither is Madea.โ
Edna (Juanita Jennings) has the libido of a woman half her age, and doesnโt let the fact that the nursing home she was living in burned to the ground slow her down.

โWe always explain to people we genuinely enjoy each otherโs company. I would rather be with her than hang out with anybody else,โ Mann says of working with his wife.

โCora is easy for me because itโs my personality that I get to share with the world and Iโm able to encourage different people,โ Tamala Mann says of her character. โThe personality of
Cora is that sheโs not easily swayed and Iโm also a strong person.โ
Brown hopes children will learn from his mistakes.

โIโve developed my character from the personalities of my aunts, uncles and grandparents,โ Mann says of Brown. โMost of the times the cast has no idea what Iโm going to do when I walk on that stage because I donโt do dress rehearsals. So when they are laughing they are really laughing.โ
