A former Spelman College student who anonymously tweeted about how her school failed to effectively respond to her gang-rape, tweeted that the school president, Mary Schmidt Campbell, who promised to meet with her almost two months ago, failed to keep her promise.
Campbell had publicly reached out to the @RapedAtSpelman handle in a tweet and according to HuffPost, an email was sent in which Campbell tells the former student that she would like to have a conversation with her regarding the accounts of her rape.
“The president promised to make time that week or the next for a conversation with the student, or to arrange a time during the summer that worked for the two of them,” reports HuffPost.
On June 6th, the @RapedatSpelman account tweeted, “Thank you @SpelmanPres for responding to my email, look forward to speaking with you. Really appreciate it.”

Wednesday, however, the account tweeted these updates:

I thought my voice would be heard, I thought my opinion and my story would matter . . That is not the case. I'm being ignored.

Spelman President told me she would help me, tweeted me and said to reveal myself to her. I reached out. No progress.

People DON'T care about survivors, they DON'T support us, they DON'T believe us.

In a Twitter direct message with HuffPost, the student behind the account said, “She never made the time and Title IX staff never contacted me.”
The anonymous student first went public with the details of her rape back in May. Spelman officials have yet to respond on the matter.
