Results of the second autopsy done on Michael Brown were released Sunday. According to The New York Times, the 18-year-old was shot at least six times, including twice in the head. This second autopsy—requested by the family—was done by Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical officer for the state of New York. Although pieces to the puzzle are still missing, like Brown’s clothing and X-Rays of his body, Baden has been able to conclude that the six shots produced more than six wounds.
But regardless of what he found, Baden doesn’t think the information he has can tell the full story of what happened. “We need more information,” he said. “For example, the police should be examining the automobile to see if there is gunshot residue in the police car.”
As Baden works to find answers, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is working to create a safe environment by dispatching the military police to Ferguson. After a weekend of protests, looting and violence, Nixon feels like this is the right choice. “Given these deliberate, coordinated and instensifying violent attacks on lives and property, I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missiouri National Guard…in restoring peace and order to this community,” he said in a statement.
