Selma has scored an Oscar nomination for Best Picture and Best Song for “Glory” by John Legend and Common.
The civil rights drama has been sweeping up the nominations this awards season. Not only was it nominated for a Golden Globe, but it snagged a Critics Choice nomination, and it is an NAACP Image Award nominee. The African-American FIlm Critics Association named it the best film of the year.
John Legend and Common’s powerful song for the motion picture, “Glory,” has earned a nomination for Best Original Song. Legend and Common have already earned a Golden Globe for their powerful music behind the film.
The historical film, directed by Ava DuVernay and starring David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., recounts Dr. King’s historic 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
Selma has garnered an incredible amount of buzz over the last couple of months, including this coveted Best Picture Oscar nomination.
