If you know anything about Black history, the name “Madam C.J. Walker” will not be unfamiliar to you. Walker—a Black woman— was America’s first female self-made millionaire. A visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist, she built an entire empire around hair. Under Sundial brands, a leading beauty manufacturer, the first prestige hair care line, Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture, is set to make its debut in Sephora on March 4.
Madam C, J, Walker Beauty Culture will debut four collections on March 4 to be sold exclusively at Sephora. The four collections will focus on cleansing, treatment and styling, and each item in the line will nourish, condition, detangle and seal in moisture while also addressing scalp issues. Packed with all of the delicious oil your look for in a product to ensure your best hair life—Think: shea, coconut and Jamaican Black Castor Oil— the line is suitable for all textures. When interviewed about the line, Vice President of Merchandising at Sephora, Priya Venkatesh stated, “Hair continues to be a critical focus area for us, and a key piece of our category strategy is ensuring that we have the most innovative and unique brands to support our clients’ hair concerns and needs.”
Walker’s great-great granddaughter, A’Leila Bundles, weighed in stating, “Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture is taking what Madam Walker envisioned more than 100 years ago to a fresh, new level with products and formulas I believe she may have imagined for the 21st century.” She continued, “In one of her last speeches, Madam walker emphasized the importance of healthy hair—whether curly-kinky, straight, wavy, or in-between—each style beautiful in its own uniqueness. With this line, every woman can have healthier hair while also confidently expressing her beauty in the best way possible—hers.”
Madam C.J. Walker will be available for purchase in-store and online at Sephora on March 4.
