UPDATE: CNN reports that the shooting suspect, an unnamed 20-year-old male, is among the dead.
A shooting at an Oregon community college has left an estimated 13 people dead and at least 20 more injured.
According to police, a gunman opened fire around 10:30 a.m. PST at Umpqua Community College in southwest Oregon, which serves 19,000 full- and part-time students. At least 10 people were fatally wounded, and three injured individuals were being life-flighted to a nearby hospital. As of right now, it is unclear whether the shooter is among the dead or in police custody.
“I heard ‘active shooter,’ and I didn’t need to be told twice,” Umpqua student Larry Howell said to NBC News. “We don’t know which one of our colleagues are down.”
Details of the shooting are still emerging.
