The family of New York City single mother Walikque Grace Faussett is grieving after the 24-year-old was fatally shot while leaving her birthday celebration in Midtown club.
A New York NBC affiliate reports that Fausett, who had a 3-year-old son, was out with friends early Monday morning celebrating her 24th birthday. She left a nightclub and was attempting to hail a cab home when a man opened fire, striking Fausett in the back and two other women, who are in stable condition. Fausett was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

Police say that the gunman had been turned away from the club earlier in the evening. Upon leaving, he told the bouncer that he would be returning with a gun, which he did. He appeared to be aiming for the bouncer, but struck the three women instead. He fled the scene in a dark-colored car and is still on the loose.
“Why did my daughter suffer?” Fausett’s mother, Wendi Rodriguez, told 4 New York. “Why did he kill my daughter? My first born—now I gotta bury her.”
