Leslie Jones ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost. The Saturday Night Live star is in final negotiations to sign on for the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Jones will join fellow SNL stars Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, as well as Melissa McCarthy, for the ghost-busting film. Though negotiations are still ongoing, director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) tweeted a pic of the four ladies, suggesting that the women are in it for the long haul.
This remake could be a big moment for Jones, who has been working to break into comedy for more than 30 years. Jones, who is one of two current Black female SNL cast members, appeared in Chris Rock’s Top Five and has opened for Jamie Foxx and Katt Williams. She scored her own Showtime stand-up special in 2011 and joined the cast of SNL last January. Only months later, she was promoted to a “feature player” on the show.
The film is slated for a July 2016 release.
