Solange Knowles has never been one to hold her tongue on the topics like racial inequality or white privilege and she’s not about to start now.
The 30-year-old songstress, wife and mother was attending a recent music event in Louisiana when she unexpectedly became the target of an unpleasant encounter with a group of white concert goers. According to Solange, she was with her husband Alan Ferguson and her 11-year-old son Daniel enjoying the music at the Kraftwerk show in New Orleans when four white women began yelling for her to “sit down now.”
As she continued partying with her family despite the unsolicited negative attention, the women then began throwing things at her. She later learned from her son that it was fruit.

While sharing her experience on social media, Solange also briefly touched on the topic of Black people being made to feel unwanted in certain spaces, before later making a point about how Black women don’t often go into situations welcoming “drama,” yet still find themselves attacked with it anyway by circumstances out of their control.
