Solange Knowles and her older sister Beyonce are known for their close relationship. Even with separate careers and families, the sisters are often seen together at events and have spoken openly about confiding in each other during life’s obstacles.
In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Solange revealed that her 8-year-old son Daniel Julez and baby Blue Ivy are growing to have a similar sibling bond!
Knowles said the cousins see each other at least once a week. “Blue comes over, I babysit,” she said. “[Blue] and Julez are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”
The 26-year-old currently lives in Brooklyn with her son and boyfriend of four years, video director Alan Ferguson. Knowles told the magazine she moved Julez from Los Angeles to the East Coast so they could be closer to her family.
Solange said she and Beyonce became “super-duper close” when she got married at 17 and gave birth to her son. She said motherhood “was always chill and easy” but “marriage is a whole ’nother ball game.”
During her almost four-year marriage that ended in divorce, Solange was living out of state and said she really needed her sister. “Every time there was drama, and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call. Now it’s kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me,” she said.
Along with juggling motherhood and babysitting her niece, Knowles has been working on her latest project, a seven-track EP called True. “I made my entire record on my own from top to bottom,” she said. “Everything from studio-equipment rentals to actually creating a studio.” The album will be distributed by Terrible Records. It is set to be released on November 27.
