TaskRabbit is taking a major step in the right direction in an industry that’s diversity-challenged.
The popular tech start-up, which allows people to outsource tasks and errands, just appointed Stacy Brown-Philpot as its new CEO after Leah Busque, the company’s founder stepped down.
Busque will now serve as the company’s executive chairwoman.
“Over the past three years, Stacy has helped TaskRabbit evolve the platform, launch in international markets and recruit talent at all levels of the company,” wrote Busque in a Medium post. “Her reputation is well-deserved.”
The CEO appointment makes Brown-Philbot one of few African-American women in executive level positions at tech companies. Brown-Philbot’s impressive resume includes an executive role at Google in addition to roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Goldman Sachs.
