Riley Curry didn’t accompany her dad, reigning two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry, to any post game conferences during the NBA finals to make us smile with her adorable antics or super sweet moments.
Instead, the toddler helped her father through the tough championship loss the only way she could.
While the Curry family was leaving the arena following the Game 7 feat, Steph explained to the 3-year-old that his team, the Golden State Warriors, hadn’t beaten the Cleveland Cavaliers to bring home the gold as they had done during the previous season and joyous celebrations would be limited.

“I had a moment. I told Riley, ‘We didn’t win.’ Curry said. “She looked at me and was like, ‘I know. It’s OK.’ I used that moment to tell her in sports ‘you win some, you lose some.’”
Curry said that with the comfort of his little girl, he was able to cope with the loss a little bit easier adding that he and his wife Ayesha have had a successful year that was more than just basketball.
“This game means a lot to us as players and to the fans anyone who has an invested interest in the game but at the end of the day, it’s still life and you can still win at life knowing you didn’t get a championship this year.”
Curry has opted out of Olympic play for Team USA Basketball for the 2016 Summer games in order to spend time with his family and rest up for next season.
