In just one month, the first issue of Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Black Panther comic revamp has become the best-selling comic this year, Vulture reports.
An estimate of 253,259 copies of the issue were ordered by North American retailers, taking the lead by a significant margin, as second place only secured 175,322 copies. And these figures don’t even account for European sales or re-orders, “meaning the final number will likely be closer to the 300,000-copy mark that Marvel announced in March,” explains Vulture.
Ta-Nehisi Coates’ ‘Black Panther’ Comic Book is Already Winning
While it’s noted that the figures have only calculated how many copies retailers ordered (and not how many copies were purchased by readers) the current data is a good indicator of the interest and success Coates’s Black Panther will have among readers.
So it’s not too soon to pop out the champagne. Cheers to Coates!
