Tamar Braxton is letting the world know just how instrumental her boyfriend David Adefeso was in saving her life just before she was hospitalized last month.
In a heartfelt dedication to the Nigerian businessman, whom she began dating in 2018, Braxton minces no words as she reveals he is the sole reason she survived her suicide attempt.
“If you have ever been in recovery or treatment you know that you reflect on a lot of things…so, I couldn’t let another day, another second go by without PUBLICLY Thanking my Love @david.adefeso for saving my life,” she wrote in the caption of a video of them making a toast.
“I’m so grateful. I was in our home lifeless😔💔 & I’m sure finding me the way that you did couldn’t have been easy,” she continues. “Through this entire time, you have held my hand, heard my cries, held me when I have been weak. You have had my ENTIRE back‼️”
The “Love and War” singer also addressed critics whom she has seen placing blame on her boyfriend. “I will not allow anyone to call you controlling or ‘that’s that African man’ 😒🤦🏽♀️👀 like I don’t have a mind of my own 🙄 cause without THIS African man, I simply would not be here,” she writes. “Everything isn’t political and your love for me is not that. You were here for me when NOBODY was and still is. YOU and Logan are priority. Thank you for being my Rock and now, my Angel on earth.”
It’s no secret that Adefeso has been by Braxton’s side during this very scary time in her life. Last month, he gave an update on her condition. In a statement made to The Blast, he told her fans, “This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles including her battle with depression. Tamar is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment.”
It was reported that the singer attempted to take her own life on July 16 while staying at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Los Angeles. In a post following the incident, Braxton thanked people who “prayed for me, thought of me, sent me their love and has showered me with their support.”
We wish Tamar and her family all the best on the journey to healing.
