Tamera Mowry is excited to return to television in her new sitcom, “Roommates.”
In the show, Tamera plays Hope, who is fiercely loyal to her friends, much like her offscreen self.
“She is very protective of people she loves, and I’m the same way with my brother and sister and family. I’m the mothering one,” she says.
Hope (Mowry) is best friends with Katie, played by Dorian Brown, and skeptical of their new roommate Mark, played by Tyler Francavilla.
Some describe the show as the second-coming of “Friends,” says Tamera.
“It’s great to be able to represent for Black women, and for her to be the fashionista!”
Hope’s love (or lust) sometimes leaves her heartbroken.
Layoffs at Hope’s high-paying job as an executive land her at a coffee shop, something she is embarrassed to tell her roommates.
Hope is the fashionista of the group, something Tamera had a lot of fun portraying.
Away from home, friends become family as these roommates navigate life in New York City.
Catch Tamera in “Roommates” Mondays at 9 P.M. EST on ABC Family.
Tamera says making people laugh is her passion and mission.
“It’s something that uplifts your soul when you laugh and make other people laugh. Laughter is healing, especially during these times with the economy,” she says.
