As part of its annual list, TIME magazine is recognizing the movers and shakers of the 21st century.
The magazine released its TIME 100 list earlier today, which includes familiar faces like Nicki Minaj (who even landed her own cover!), Taraji P. Henson, President Obama, Kendrick Lamar and Steph Curry.

“The people on the list, each in their own way, have lessons to teach,” writes TIME editor Nancy Gibbs in an essay explaining how the magazine selected the winners. “We can debate those lessons; we don’t have to endorse them or agree with them. But the influence of this year’s TIME 100, to my mind, is that down to the last person, they have the power to make us think. And they are using it.”
So who else made the list? Athlete-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson landed a spot in the Titan category, while Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ryan Coogler all made the list of most influential artists. Lester Holt and global activist Denise Mukwege were named as influential leaders, and running prodigy Usain Bolt appeared on the Icons list.

“One way or another, the [influencers] each embody a breakthrough: they broke the rules, broke the record, broke the silence, broke the boundaries to reveal what we’re capable of,” Gibbs wrote. “They are seekers, with a fearless willingness to be surprised by what they find.”
Congrats to everyone who made the list!
