There is a thin line between tough love and taking things too far. Tavis Sellers now finds himself straddling that line in the both the court of public opinion and actual court.
The Virginia father is facing a domestic assault and battery charge after a video was posted to Facebook of Sellers boxing with his 17-year-old son.

After learning that his son had been misbehaving in school after and walked out of class without communicating that to him, Sellers decided discipline the young man by challenging him to a boxing match that his father set up to be recorded. In the video, Sellers said that by boxing his son he hoped to teach him a leasson.
“Discipline for not following my directions,” he stated. “Secondly, teaching him how to defend himself.”
After throwing a few jabs at his son, Sellers said he was in no way worried about blood that was oozing from his son’s face but wanted him to know that when he “cuts up in school, this is what [he] has to deal with when [he] comes home.”
By the end of the video, the young man’s T-shirt is left bloofy and he forced to apologize to the camera.
Take a look at the video, which we warn you is graphic, and sound off: do you think Sellers abused his son or was merely doing his duty as a dad?
