Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has officially dropped out of the race for the White House.
Following a disappointing loss in Tuesday’s crucial Indiana Primary that saw Cruz snag only 36 percent of the votes to Donald Trump’s 53 percent, the previously determined politician decided to throw in the towel. He officially announced the end of his campaign for the presidency while addressing a room full of supporters at a rally in Indianapolis on Tuesday evening once the results of the Indiana primary were revealed.

“Together we left it all in the field in Indiana, we gave it everything we got,” he said before a tearful mix of campaign staffers and supporters. “So with a heavy a heart, but with boundless optimism, for the long term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign. From the beginning I said I would continue on, as long as there was a viable path.
Tonight, I’m sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed.”

With only 565 delegates under his belt and only 520 still available, Cruz’s loss in Indiana mathematically eliminated him from being able to gain the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination.
