Well, we know which side of the Black Lives Matter movement Texas politician Ted Cruz is on.
The Republican presidential hopeful told ThinkProgress that although he would be open to a meeting with Black Lives Matter activists, he doesn’t agree with their so-called “message.”
“If you look at the Black Lives Matter movement, one of the most disturbing things is more than one of their protests have embraced rabid rhetoric, rabid anti-police language, literally suggesting and embracing and celebrating the murder of police officer,” Cruz said. “That is disgraceful.”

He went on, saying that though Black lives do, indeed, matter, protestors are to blame for the spike in crime in places like Baltimore because officers are afraid of demonstrators.
“The best way to protect Black lives is to keep them safe from murderers and criminals who would prey on them.”
Black Lives Matter leader Johnetta Elzie told ThinkProgress that Cruz’s opinions were bogus and misguided.
“It’s amazing to me that Black people and their allies affirming that Black Lives Matter is somehow celebrating murder,” she said. “Nothing about us affirming our own lives has anything to do with ’embracing and celebrating the murder of police officers.'”
