A 17-year-old mother has been arrested after her nine-month-old baby was found crawling on a road Friday night.
Facebook video of the baby crawling alone in the street forced the police department in Utica, N.Y. to investigate, according to the Observer-Dispatch. In the video, pedestrians can be seen stopping their cars to help the baby.
According to Utica Police Department Lt. Bryan Coromato, the teen mother told investigators that she briefly left the child in the backseat of her car. But when she looked back, the baby was gone.
″(The) Utica Police Department became aware of a video posted to Facebook showing an infant in the roadway unattended,” said Coromato via a statement. “Once the video was brought to our attention an investigation was immediately initiated.”
The infant was immediately taken to hospital. The mother, who remains unidentified, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
