BET’s 106 & Park alum Terrence “J” Jenkins’ resume just keeps growing.
The newly-single host of E! News (he and model Selita Ebanks recently called it quits) just wrapped up shooting a movie and is getting ready to write a book on his childhood growing up in Queens, New York.
“My mother got pregnant with me when she was 17 years old and this is the story of how she kept me, not just off the streets but put me in a position to go to college,” Jenkins shared while hosting P&G’s “Share, Love, Celebrate” event in New York City.
“The book talks about her life and about my journey. How I went to college coming from the hood, how I got the job at 106 & Park at E! and how I got the role in Think Like a Man.”
The 30-year-old TV host is also gearing up to star in David E. Talbert’s star-studded drama Baggage Claim co-starring Jill Scott, Paula Patton and Lauren London. “I get to marry Lauren London in the movie so that’s a lot of fun,” he says. “I’m also going to be shooting Think Like a Man 2 in a couple of months so I’ve got to hit the gym and get ready.”
As for his connection to P&G, Jenkins recalls how his co-star Michael Ealy and Kevin Hart would tease him on the set of Think Like a Man. “I was the rookie on set,” he says. “As a part of my initiation they stole my toilet paper every time I went on set. At the end of the film Will Packer gave me a big gift and said “here’s some Charmin (a P&G product), just so you always know you ain’t ish” and it was kind of like the running joke.”
Jenkins later hooked up with the company because, he says, “It’s like when you find a record that you love and then you research the artist and find out they have a lot more records that you love.”
