It seems that every day there’s news about powerful Hollywood men using their privilege to abuse others.
Actor Terry Crews, who came forward with his own story of sexual assault, has revealed the name of the executive who allegedly groped him at a party.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor appeared on Good Morning America, where he told hosts he wasn’t ashamed of coming forward. He went on to name William Morris Endeavor executive Adam Venit as the man who assaulted him. Venit has since been suspended from the firm.
Crews detailed the incident, which took place in February 2016, saying Venit squeezed his genitals and made disgusting gestures at the actor with his tongue.
“I have never felt more emasculated, more objectified. I was horrified,” Crews said. “It’s so bizarre. I wake up every morning wondering, ‘Did this really happen?’”
Crews has since filed a police report with the LAPD. The incident falls within California’s statute of limitations and could lead to an investigation.
Crews added that he finally understood why women often don’t come forward with their own stories of abuse.
“When a person of power breaks that boundary and violates that boundary, you’re a prisoner of war. Immediately, you’re in a camp because you’re trying to figure out when is the right time to come out. This is the thing that a lot of people just don’t understand and they end up blaming the victim. I will not be shamed. I did nothing wrong. Nothing.”
