The Fort Worth, Texas community is making their voices heard to call for justice in the wake of the disturbing police brutality incident involving a Black mother and her children that took place earlier this week.
In the now-viral video, a white police officer is seen tasing an African-American mother, identified as Jacqueline Craig, while also manhandling her daughter. The confrontation between the officer and the woman escalated suddenly, to no fault of her own, when he arrived in response to her call for help after a neighbor choked her 7-year-old son for allegedly throwing trash on the ground.
The unlawful treatment of the woman and her children sparked rightful outrage across the nation after the video of the incident, which was filmed by her daughter, hit social media. In response, a crowd of nearly 150 people gathered at the Tarrant County Courthouse on Thursday evening around 7 p.m. According to Dallas News, several demonstrators held signs reading “Being Black Is Not A Crime,” and “Hold Police Accountable.”

“It’s time to stand up and protect your community,” activist LaShadion Anthony said. “If you came out here for a kumbaya, you came to the wrong place.”
Next Generation Action founder Dominique Alexander also addressed the crowd, calling for the dismissal of the Fort Worth police chief should justice not be served for Craig and her teen daughters.
