Toni Braxton’s music has been a staple on the R&B music scene for over 25 years and this weekend, she was rightfully honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans.
Held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, this year’s 365 Black Awards highlighted the accomplishments of deserving influencers in entertainment, philanthropy, sports, education and entrepreneurship. Braxton was honored with a series of musical tributes from several powerhouse voices in R&B music, including the Braxton sisters, Kenny Lattimore, Kelly Price and Eric Benet. Among the additional honorees were teen philanthropist Lauren Seroyer, actress Wendy Raquel Robinson and former NFL star Charles “Peanut” Tillman, historian Lonnie Bunch, and entrepreneurs Donovan Smith and Larry Triplett.
The celebration was hosted by Amber Riley and Lance Gross and featured additional performances by Anthony Hamilton, Chrisette Michele and V. Bozeman. The 2016 365 Black Awards are set to air later on this fall.
