For the first time since her brothers were killed, reality star Toya Wright relives the night she got the call that altered her life.
She had just arrived to Louisiana from Atlanta that morning to host a party at Allure nightclub in Baton Rouge. All smiles with a fresh new do’, Wright posted pictures on Instagram ready for the night ahead — a night that quickly turned into an unforgettable nightmare.
“I got a call from my sister-in-law and she was like, ‘Your brothers just got shot,'” Wright told PEOPLE. “The music was loud and I’m [thinking], this can’t be real.”
Unsure if ‘got shot’ actually meant ‘killed’, Toya frantically dialed other family members for details. In those moments, desperately searching for more information on what happened, Wright said she “just knew.”
Finally, she got the confirmation she didn’t want to hear.
Ryan ‘Rudy’ Johnson, 24, and Joshua Johnson nicknamed ‘Fish’, 31, were found dead in a car with multiple gun wounds near their home in the seventh ward of New Orleans — a two hour drive from where Toya stood that night.

“It was the worst news ever,” she said. “Murders happen every day and this is another dark night in New Orleans. You hear about stories like this all the time, but it doesn’t really hit you until you get that call. It hits so close to home.”
