Tracy Morgan is back on his feet nearly two years after the car crash that left him severely injured.
While on his Picking up the Pieces tour, the funnyman had the chance to perform for some very special people: an audience full of doctors, nurses and first responders from Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, the facility where he spent months recovering.
“Last night was one of the most special nights of my life,” the 47-year-old told PEOPLE. “To be standing on stage with the people that saved my life in the audience was an overwhelming experience. I will never fully be able to thank the doctors, nurses, first responders and everyone else that got me back on that stage enough.”

He continued,
“These people are heroes and I love them all from the bottom of my heart. The only good thing that happened on that horrible night was that I was close to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital when the accident happened. God Bless them all.”
Following the performance, Tracy shared a standing ovation with those who helped save his life and invited everyone backstage for hugs and pictures.
All of the proceeds from the show were donated to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
