Trina is clearing the air about the real status of her relationship with Nicki Minaj.
Earlier this week, a member of Trina’s management team posted a now-deleted video on Instagram, followed by an interview accusing Minaj of failing to help promote she and Trina’s June 2019 single, “B.A.P.S.”. In addition to claiming that Nicki refused to shoot a video for the single or post about it on her Instagram page, the person also inferred that Nicki had given preferential treatment to her joint single with Megan Thee Stallion.
Nicki briefly addressed the claims on the most recent episode of Queen Radio. “I always ask people, ‘Do you have a budget to promote the record?’ That’s it. It’s a business. I don’t understand,” she said.
Elaborating further, Minaj also said she’d made every effort to get the video done shortly after the song was recorded nearly 2 years ago, but was unsuccessful in getting a response from Trina’s team. While she acknowledged that she hadn’t heard anything negative come directly from Trina herself about the situation, she did make it clear that she felt Trina should have had a better handle on her team.
“For your team or anybody’s team to feel like I owe you anything or for them to disrespect me because I’m showing love to another female and you’re not gonna check them, that’s not cool,” she added. “I dropped my own song that same day and still asked you, ‘Hey, come up to Queen Radio and promote your album.’ These are things that I don’t HAVE to do. People say things like they’re entitled; I don’t have to do anything for anyone; no one does anything for me.”
In response, Trina took to her Instagram Live on Thursday morning to clear the air. Among other things, she said she takes the blame for her team dropping the ball and believes “bad business” is what caused the confusion. She also shut down rumors of a rift between she and Minaj, stating “There is no beef between me and Nicki Minaj. There will be no disrespect for Nicki Minaj or anyone else that’s on my album.”
