A disturbing viral video clip is serving as yet another reminder of the hateful treatment some Americans are subjected to in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election win.
As people across the nation continue to find themselves targeted by hurtful, hateful and blatantly racist verbal and physical attacks at the hands of alleged Trump supporters, one demonstrator became the victim of a violent assault while speaking to others about pressing forward during a recent rally in Ohio. In the video clip, Ohio State student Timothy Adams is seen addressing a crowd with a bullhorn while standing on the stairs during an anti-Trump protest at The Ohio Union in Columbus, when another student suddenly rushes him and aggressively pushes him off the steps. The crowd is then heard gasping in shock, as other demonstrators tackle the man just as police arrive to arrest him.

Despite the unexpected attack, Adams continued with his message shortly after recovering his broken glasses and bullhorn, getting up off the floor to continue addressing the crowd. “I think, if anything, tonight shows that we really need to bring people into social movements, bring people into social organizations and to come out for each other and stand up for each other,” Adams told Ohio State student news publication The Lantern. “Ultimately, coming together is the only thing that’s going to stop any kind of violence.”

The student who attacked Adams was later identified as Shane Michael Stanton. He was immediately placed on indefinite suspension from the University following his arrest.
