Donald Trump’s Twitter fingers were up and at em’ bright and early this morning. Sticking to his usual routine, Trump fired off tweets replete with errors praising himself while criticizing the work of former President Barack Obama.
The whole charade was aimed at justifying Trump’s decision to call off a retaliation airstrike against Iran.
Broken up into four parts, the tweets essentially explain how Obama made a bad deal with Iran. Iran used the money from the deal to create nuclear weapons. Trump put his foot down to stop Iran from destroying the Middle East. Then this week he swooped in again to save the day after Iran shot down a drone flying in international waters, and the U.S. was ready to retaliate.
“We were cocked & loaded on 3 different sights when I asked how many will die,” Trump claims. “150 people, sir was the answer from a General,” the tall-taled tweet continues. “10 minutes before the strike I stopped it.”
Trump said the airstrike would not have been “proportionate.” That is why he called it off. He, however, added that the military is “rebuilt, new, and ready to go” insinuating that the U.S. is prepared to act if and when the time calls for it.
On a related note, the former reality TV persona told NBC’s Chuck Todd that the attack was never green-lighted and there were never any planes in the air.
