Broadcaster, author and producer Tavis Smiley has signed an exclusive development and production deal with Warner Bros. Television Group to develop new broadcast and cable scripted TV series, Deadline reports.
The series will be adaptations of Smiley’s books Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days, which documents the final 16 days in the pop legends life, and My Journey With Maya, which is a memoir about Smiley and poet Maya Angelou’s lifelong friendship.

Before You Judge Me, due to be published in June 2016, is described as a novel that details Jackson’s struggles with balancing extreme fame and social awkwardness with his desires for privacy.
