Twitter’s 140-character limit may soon be gone.
Forbes reports that the social media site CEO Jack Dorsey may be close to revealing an update that could allow for tweets to be 10,000 characters long.

Dorsey shared his thoughts on the speculation via Twitter stating the defining feature of the site is a “beautiful constraint” but a change could be worth exploring.
“At it’s core Twitter is public messaging,” Dorsey writes. “A simple way to say something, to anyone, that everyone in the world can see instantly.”
The greatest part of Twitter’s functionality he shares, is “its fast, public, live conversational nature” but adds “that there is no opposition to buidling more utility and power into Twitter for people.”
Should the change become effective, tweets and direct messages–a private component of the site which is hidden from the timeline–would have the same character limit.
What do you think about the potential change? Will it help or hurt the way you tweet?
