Two white men are finally in police custody after being accused of harassing and terrorizing a Black woman in what authorities are calling a hate crime.
Dylan Reynolds and Micahel Walters were each wanted on the charge of felony hate crime, stemming from an incident that occurred on Nov. 29, at a West Monroe, Louisiana Walmart,
KNOE reports.
According to the report, police were called about a disturbance and property damage issue, and when they arrived on the scene they discovered that the victim, a Black woman, had been “terrorized while exiting the store in the parking lot area…for no apparent reason.”
The unidentified woman was approached by Reynolds and Walters as she was leaving the Walmart and loading her items into her vehicle.
While in the parking lot, the men reportedly yelled at the woman and called her a “n–ger”. The woman tried to escape in her vehicle, but one of the two men chased her on foot while pushing an empty shopping cart. He then allegedly used the shopping card to crash into the rear end of the woman’s vehicle as she slowed down for “speed bumps” in the parking lot near the entrance of the building, the police report noted.
The woman’s vehicle was damaged, costing her over $1,000 in repairs, and police also said that her safety was put at risk “while driving away from the two aggressors.”
After allegedly damaging the woman’s car, the men fled in a dark gray Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck.
The incident was captured on the store’s security footage.
On Thursday night, the two men were detained and booked into Ouachita Correction Center. As of Friday, with bond set at $20,000 for each man,
