Last Christmas Tyler Perry offered to help an 88-year-old Georgia woman rebuild her home after it was damaged in a fire. While the restoration may have taken some time, as promised, the filmmaker delivered. Perry recently handed Rosa Lee Ransby keys to her new four-bedroom home in rural Coweta County, Georgia.
Ransby and her seven grand- and great-grandchildren lost their home a week before Christmas. After hearing about her story in a local TV newscast, Perry decided to not only rebuild the house, but also fill it with furniture. Perry said he wanted to help Ransby have a new home with enough space for her grandchildren to play.
“I heard ‘thank you’ a million times,” Perry told the Newnan-Times Herald. “It’s good to see the whole community rally around a family. It felt great to be able to do this — it’s our responsibility to pay it forward.”
