Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” recently hit DVD and has already topped national sales charts. The theater-inspired film opened last weekend as the number one selling DVD, according to Nielsen ratings, beating two national films that did better in the box office…
Perry’s film — which grossed $38 million in theatres — topped DVD releases of “Life As We Know It” ($53 million) at No. 2 and “Paranormal Activity 2” ($85 million) at No. 3. With its high DVD sales, “For Colored Girls” isn’t doing too badly in the rental market either — the film ranked at No.4 on Home Media Magazine’s rental charts last week.
Last weekend’s big DVD sales arrive only two months before Perry’s big release of Madea’s “Big Happy Family,” which opens in theaters April 22.
We look forward to it — we know Perry will continue to do big things!
