From the restraining order to public emotional pleas, there’s a lot happening with Tyrese’s ongoing custody battle with his ex-wife Norma Mitchell Gibson over their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla.
While finalizing their divorce, RadarOnline.com reported that Mitchell sought a modification to the custody arrangement they had reached along with payment of spousal support and attorney fees.
In 2015, Mitchell Gibson opened up to Madame Noire, saying, “I just have come to a point where I felt that I really want to have a voice and speak up for myself. It’s been a long time that I have been going through this and I just want to move on and move forward.”
During a court hearing, Norma admitted to sending Tyrese a text message stating that she wanted to have his fingers cut off. A judge granted Tyrese permission to visit his daughter for the first time in two months for a monitored visit of six hours. it’s unclear if this visit ever happened.
Hours after leaving court, Tyrese checked himself into an L.A. hospital, Cedars-Sinai, for chest pains and anxiety.
While performing at a show, the singer dedicated the first verse of Marvin Gaye’s hit, “Let’s get It On” to his daughter.
The singer has public emotional meltdown hours before a court hearing set to begin and cried as he shouted “please don’t take my baby,” and “no one will hire me Norma” into the camera.
Following his disturbing emotional plea the day before, the singer and actor told the public that all is well with his mental and emotional state. “Contratry to what some of y’all believe, I’m actually ok,” he said in a video shared on Instagram.
