Model Tyson Beckford’s nephew is being accused of causing a fatal bus crash in New York City, reports the New York Post.
Dominic Whilby, 22, allegedly stole a delivery truck in the Meatpacking district early Wednesday morning after getting frustrated that he couldn’t find a limousine he was expecting. Shortly afterwards, he ran a red light, crashing into a bus driven by 49-year-old, William Pena.
Pena died on the scene, making him the first bus driver killed in a collision in over 14 years, according to New York City Transit officials.
Whilby was found unconscious in the truck. He was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger, two pedestrians, and a nearby coffee vendor who was hit by the truck, were hospitalized. All of the victims are in stable condition, says the Post.
Just hours before the crash, Whilby was spotted drinking with his uncle at New York hotspot 1 OAK. He has been charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminal trespass two counts of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and three counts of felony assault.
