Father and son share a quiet moment developing their eternal bond.
“Every child wants attention. Somebody to play with, somebody to talk with about male things.”
Usher presents his son to the world, Usher V, affectionately known as Cinco.
“I represent what he is to become. He’s gonna admire me, he’s gonna look up to me,” he told ESSENCE.
Usher shares the best part of marriage has been having children.
“The joy of receiving adoring love from your wife and your child is priceless,” he said. “Men are out here searching for validation—validation for what we build, where we are as men.”
While the baby sleeps, Usher thinks on how fatherhood made him complete.
“The moment I heard my child’s voice, I broke down and cried because at that moment, I was not only 100 percent responsible, but now fulfilled,” he said. “Like I have fulfilled my responsibilities in life.”
Though Usher’s father was not in his life, he has no doubts he will be the best dad he can be to his children.
“So what is the one thing that I would want my child to know if I could just tap him on his head? That I’m here. That I love him, and he matters more than anything. And I ain’t going nowhere,” he says.
Usher is ready for the world with a new outlook on life that came with fatherhood.
