Sometimes a bundle of joy is just what the divine ordered. Pop phenom Usher Raymond and his wife, Tameka Foster, are expecting their second child together, according to People.com.
In November 2007, the couple welcomed their first child together, Usher Raymond V. Recently, father and son graced the August 2008 cover of ESSENCE together, making the publication the first media outlet to debut exclusive photos of Usher’s son, whom they nicknamed Cinco.
The R&B star expressed the importance of his new role as a parent. “I represent what he is to become,” he told ESSENCE. “He’s gonna admire me, he’s gonna look up to me. He’s gonna say, ‘I wanna be’—or he should say—‘I wanna be like my father. I wanna be a man of valor. I wanna possess what my father has as a man.’”
Raymond, who only developed a relationship with his father before his death, has made it known that he will do everything in his power to not repeat history by becoming an absentee father. He further explains what he expects from all fathers. “You should never abandon your responsibility, which is to be there, reading with your child, being supportive of your child’s growth. That is communicating. That is making the choice to put your child before your own vanity.”
Although the couple will neither confirm nor deny the pregnancy rumors, Foster was recently sighted at Usher’s NFL kickoff concert in New York wearing a loose-fitting dress.
Last year Foster told ESSENCE.com,: “This is the man I love and plan to spend the rest of my life with, so why wouldn’t I want to share that bond with him of bringing another life into this world?”
In May the singer released his album, “Here I Stand”, and has been working closely with the New Look foundation, a charity and summer camp for teenagers. Like his non-profit for kids, the Prince of R&B believes in taking charge, whether it’s giving back or being a good husband and father. Raymond told ESSENCE, “To get married was a choice. To have a child is a responsibility.”
