In what appears to be a tragic murder-suicide, VH1 Hit the Floor star Stephanie Moseley was fatally shot yesterday morning by her husband, rapper Earl Hayes, who later turned the gun on himself, reports TMZ.
Police were called to the couple’s Los Angeles apartment after receiving reports of gunshots and a woman’s scream coming from inside the home. Once the SWAT team arrived, they found the bodies of 30-year-old Moseley and 34-year-old Hayes.
According to TMZ, the whole scene was reportedly witnessed by boxer Floyd Mayweather, who was close friends with Hayes. The two were FaceTiming at the time of the crime. Hayes had reportedly accused Moseley of having an affair with singer Trey Songz. Moseley, an actor and backup dancer for artists including Chris Brown and Beyoncé, had toured with Songz in the past.
VH1 released a statement to Us Weekly expressing their condolences:
“We are incredibly saddened to hear the news of the passing of Stephanie Moseley,” the statement said. “VH1 and the entire Hit the Floor family send our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.”
According to Hayes’s life coach, Burrel L. Wilks, the rapper did not have a history of violent behavior.
“I’ve had sit-downs with both of them, so whatever happened behind those doors, we’ll never know,” Wilks told L.A.’s NBC affiliate. “But I heard out of her own mouth, he never raised a hand on her… This is kind of stunning.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of both Moseley and Hayes.
