There’s no denying that the best inspirations often come from glamazons of the past. Author Nichelle Gainer had this in mind when she crafted Vintage Black Glamour, an extensive collection of candid photos of entertainers dating as far back as the 1900’s.
The special edition tome is home to approximately 150 images of artists like Josephine Baker, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and lesser-known artists including Gainer’s aunt, opera singer Margaret Tynes.
“Many of these pictures haven’t been seen in decades because the photographer may have taken 20 shots but maybe one made the newspaper,” Gainer told NBC in a recent interview.
The coffee table book isn’t available until this summer, but you can pre-order it now here.
