Hamilton fans were blessed double-time when Tony winner Cynthia Erivo surprised the guests with an a cappella performance of Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
Every week, Hamilton stars host a preshow called ‘#Ham4Ham’ outside the doors of the theater. Each week, they invite special guests to come entertain fans who try their luck at winning tickets to the sold musical.
This week, Erivo stepped to the mic.
Just how well did she match up to Bey’s vocals? Let’s just say, in the words of Tamar Braxton, “She did that!”
Erivo took on the song, “Sandcastles” belting out each melodic note effortlessly. We should expect nothing less from the singer who’s been said to have “the greatest vocal cords on Broadway.”
The British native took home her first Tony award this year for Best Actress in a Musical for her debut role as Celie in The Color Purple.
Watch as she shuts it down in this stellar performance.
