White House staffer Barvetta Singletary is currently on unpaid leave and her access to the White House revoked after a scandalous weekend.
According to arrest records, Singletary—a special assistant to President Barack Obama and the House legislative affairs liaison—aimed a gun and then shot at her boyfriend, who is a Capitol Police officer at the president’s home, because her refused to let her see his cellphone.
Singletary pulled the officer’s 40 caliber Glock 23 service gun and allegedly said, “You taught me how to use this, don’t think I won’t use it.”
It began when Singletary invited the officer to her Upper Marlboro, Maryland home on Friday morning to have a sexual encounter. She reportedly questioned him about a woman he was dating. After he refused to answer her questions, she asked him to go outside. They went to his Cadillac Escalade, where she retrieved his cellphones and a gun from his bag.
Singletary then fired one shot, but luckily, it did not hit the officer. She was arrested on Friday and released Monday after posting a $75,000 bond and now faces unpaid leave and revoked access to The White House complex.
A U.S Capitol Poilce Department investigation is underway.
