Whitney Houston’s family is not on board for the pending Lifetime network movie about the late singer’s life and love story.
According to TMZ, the Houston estate is so upset about the Lifetime and Angela Bassett project Whitney Houston; they’re considering filing a lawsuit to block production.
Lifetime announced last week that Angela Bassett would direct the movie focusing on the Houston and Bobby Brown’s love story. Bassett said in a statement, “I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
Sources close to the family say the estate is planning their own production for the big screen, much like Michael Jackson’s “This is It.”
Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law said, “Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening.”
Lifetime has yet to comment.
