Whoopi Goldberg got into a heated on-air argument with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro on Thursday’s episode of ABC’s The View over President Donald Trump. Then, Goldberg ended the interview early and kicked the right-wing host off the show.
Goldberg tore into Pirro after the former judge accused the comedian of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The phrase is a favorite among conservatives for liberals who they believe irrationally dislike Trump.
“I don’t have ‘Trump Derangement’ ― let me tell you what I have: I’m tired of people starting a conversation with ‘Mexicans are liars and rapists,’” Goldberg responded.
She continued: “Listen, I’m 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn’t agree with. But I have never, ever seen anything like this. I have never seen anybody whip up such hate. I have never seen anybody be so dismissive.”
Pirro, however, was not done, and continued to mock the host on her own show.
“Whoopi, you know what’s horrible? When people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of American citizens,” Pirro said.
“You know what’s horrible? When the president of the United States whips up people to beat the hell out of people,” Goldberg shouted back. “Say goodbye. I’m done.”
And just like that, Pirro was off the show. She came on the show that day to promote her book “Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy.”
But according to Page Six, the argument continued backstage with Goldberg cursing at Pirro.
Clips of the incident on-air incident immediately went viral.
Goldberg however, made sure to apologize to the show’s audience before ending the show: “You saw me do something I very rarely do,” she said. “I very rarely lose my cool and I’m not proud of it. I don’t like it. But I also don’t like being accused of being hysterical because that is one of the things I try not to be on this show.”
