Winnie Mandela Calls J-Hud Biopic an 'Insult'

Winnie Mandela say she won’t support the biopic of her life starring ESSENCE Music Festival headliner Jennifer Hudson. The South African activist, and Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife, is appalled that she was never consulted for the yet-to-be-released movie.

Mandela says that her lack of support isn’t against J-Hud. “I have absolutely nothing against Jennifer, but I have everything against the movie itself,” she told CNN.

“I am still alive and I think it is total disrespect to come to South Africa, make a movie about my struggle and call that movie some translation of a romantic life of Winnie Mandela. I think it is an insult.”

A rep for Hudson said that she would have loved to meet with Mandela, but no meeting was arranged due to the orders of the producers, who thought it was a bad idea, CNN reports.
