The life story of The Wiz Live choreographer Fatima Robinson is coming to the small screen.
The Hollywood Reporter announced that executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are currently in talks to develop a dance drama series for NBC based on Robinson’s experiences in 1990s Los Angeles dance scene.

While the project is still untitled, it will focus on the birth of hip-hop dance and the dance domination of pop culture.
Robinson’s career has been influential as her choreography credits include work for the Academy Awards, the NFL Super Bowl and movie productions including Dreamgirls, Ali, Save the Last Dance and Miami Vice.
In addition, she was choreographed music videos for the Michael Jackson-hit “Remember the Time” and Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat.”
Robinson, Meron and Zadan recently worked together on the live adaptation of The Wiz. In an interview, Zadan revealed that hiring Robinson to choreograph the all-Black cast in the production was only right.
“We hired Fatima Robinson, who is not a Broadway choreographer, to do authentic Black dancing,” he said. “She comes from hip-hop and a lot of her point of view on dance is very gritty and authentic and raw.”
A premiere date for the production is still unknown as it is still in the early stages of development.
