A North Dakota woman has been fired from her job after a video of her harassing three muslim women at a Walmat went viral.
Amber Hensley was caught on video throwing insults at the women, who were of somali descent.
“We’re going to kill you. We’re going to kill all you f—–g Muslims,” she can be heard yelling at them in the video. The incident started when Hensley started mocking one of the women for being cross-eyed.
Once the video went viral, Hensley’s employer was inundated with emails and phone calls. They released a statement announcing her dismissal: “Horab & Wentz does not agree with or support the statements expressed by Amber Hensley in the recently posted video,” they wrote. “Ms. Hensley is no longer employed with Horab & Wentz effective immediately. Amber was employed as a secretary and was not a CPA.”
The three women who were harassed told local media that such behavior was common in Fargo, ND.
“Actually, this kind of discrimination happens every single day to all people here” said Leyla Hassan, one of the victims. “She started threatening me that she’s gonna kill us. That’s when I had to take out my phone and I started recording everything there.”
“We told her we were going to record this and show it to the police,” added Rowda Sowan, another victim. “She was like, ‘police is not going to do nothing to you guys. They’re not going to do nothing’.”
Fargo police are said to be investigating and have yet to press charges.
As for Hensley, she disputes their telling of the story, insisting that she was provoked when they parked too close to her and refused to move their cars. But she does apologize for the way she reacted:
“I would first like to apologize for the horrible things that I said to the two ladies at Walmart,” she said. “ It was not a Christian like thing to do AT ALL and wish I could take it back, but I lost my cool and I can’t. I am terribly sorry.”
