Yaya DaCosta may have been a runner up in Cycle Three of America’s Next Top Model, but she’s certainly winning right now in her career and personal life. 2013 was a big year for DaCosta, who starred in Lee Daniel’s The Butler, celebrated her one-year anniversary with hubby and filmmaker, Joshua Alafia and gave birth to her first child. 2014, is looking just as good for DaCosta who has been cast to play Whitney Houston in the Lifetime biopic that will recount the late singer’s relationship with Bobby and rise to fame. The biopic is projected to release in 2015.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old New York native has proven that she can play house, dominate the big screen, and still work the runway. The latter has landed her a spot in Tom Ford’s Fall/Winter 2014 ad campaign. “The campaign is focused on the personal, individual style of different types of women,” reported Vogue Italia. Flaunting the ‘fro we’ve grown to love and the legs we adore, DaCosta epitomizes individuality. Leather, fishnets and a touch of cheetah print have never looked so good.
