Why Common's Not Relying On Trump And The Government To Help Chicago

In an exclusive interview at ESSENCE's 10th Annual Black Women In Hollywood Awards Gala, Common talked to us about Donald Trump's threat to bring National Guard troops into Chicago to curb gun violence, saying he doesn't focus too much on the government's problematic efforts to "help" the storied city. "I really try not to focus on what the government is saying because they haven't shown true sincerity or true efforts to better the community holistically," he said.
