When news broke that Mary J. Blige and her longtime husband and manager Martin “Kendu” Isaacs were splitting, we were admittedly heart-broken.
But when the receipts showed that Kendu was coming after Mary’s coin, lets just say we had questions and ESSENCE readers did too.
In this week’s ESSENCE Live, we took to Facebook to go over the receipts and ask readers whether or not Mary should shell out the cash for Kendu’s spousal and child support (and no, they do not have children together).
Plus we go all in on the heated presidential election. As one of the largest voting blocs in the nation, we called in expert political strategist Glynda Carr of Higher Heights to remind us of how powerful our vote is.
Carr runs through the statistics and gets honest about why Black women need to step out of the sidelines and get ahead of the political curve.

And of course, we couldn’t end the show without a special guest. Tamera Mowry-Housley stopped by the studio to talk one-on-one with host Dana Blair about ‘The Real’ without Tamar, her take on the presidential election and ends with a special message to folks who thinks she “acts too white.”
We’ve covered all these things and more on this week’s episode of ESSENCE Live. Watch the full episode above.
This is one you don’t want to miss.
